Minority Report + Final Cut Pro = the film editing system of the future! Check out Scientist John Underkofflers TAMPER, demoing the newest evolution in cinema.

What do you think about it?

When I saw Minority Report back in high school I thought it would be awesome to edit a movie like how they play with the precog’s visions. It just seems to make sense. Plus if you’ve ever edited on film you’ve probably experienced how amazing it is to physically cut a scene or film. There’s something about it that just can’t be replicated when working on a computer. With that being said I’ve wanted to see this for awhile, I knew someone would come up with it, I just wasn’t sure who or when.

Tamper looks cool but this demo hasn’t shown me it’s useful yet for editing. I’m sure they’re working their asses off to get it, but this demo just showed me how you can make a cool movie collage… With just the demo we got I have a few questions for the guy: “How did you cut out the different layers?” “How easy is it to do so?” “How did you import these movies?” “Where does the media live?” So on and so forth… It looks cool and is a step in the right direction I just wish I could see more of it basically.

I want to see all the boring parts of this: loading the footage, organizing it, what sequences will look like, what can you do when you want to export and send to a client to get approval. Basically I want to see this same machine go through the motions, which I’m sure they’re still working on.

  4. indfilm87 answered: I think it’s an interesting product. Easy cut and paste editing but I think in that size it’s going to be hard to get people excited.
